Eurocolt has been involved in several proposals candidates to be financed by the European Union Horizon 2020 program. The company is now pleased to announce that recently the results of one of the calls (Flexible processing technologies) have been published and that the project Flexible And Mobile Economic Processing Technologies (FAME), where Eurocolt is one of the partners between 17 coming from 7 different European countries, was selected for financing with an high score.
The objective of this project is to stimulate private engagement and investment in European mining and to raise the competitiveness especially of SME mining entrepreneurs by lowering expenses in mine development through new and improved mineral processing technologies as actually most under-investigated and most cost driven factors. The project targets the most sophisticating and widespread resources of economically interesting primary ore types with which many critical elements are associated: skarn, pegmatites and greisen ore bodies. These promising ore types are rather complex but also of great potential within the overall resource balance in EU.
With an optimum of input/output relation in this public funded project the methodological approach targets R&D on flexible, economic and modular environmentally sound processing to raise product recovery including valuable by-products. The project´s goal therefore meets the principle objective of the Strategic Implementation Plan of the European Innovation Partnership on Raw Materials: to reduce import dependency and to promote production and supply from EU resources.
This project will allow the company to study the best metallurgical and processing techniques to be used in its advanced Tabuaço tungsten project.
